Getting Started

The first step in reserving a date and planning your marriage is to call the clergy directly and schedule an appointment.

You may call the rectory office at 510-797-1660 to speak with a priest.

Sometimes parishioners may have a family member or close friend who is clergy whom they wish to preside at their marriage.  In these cases you still need to contact our parish clergy as your first step.

Group Convalidation

Bring your marriage into the Church.

Catholic Church law requires baptized Catholics to marry before a Catholic priest or deacon. In Catholic tradition, the vows exchanged by the couple are a sacred pact between each other with Christ as their partner. Studies have shown that couples who recognize God’s presence in their relationships experience greater contentment and are more likely to have a lifelong marriage. Couples who bring their marriage into the Church welcome God’s grace and special blessings upon their marriage.

If your vows were exchanged in the presence of ministers from other religious traditions or civil officials, we invite you to bring new meaning to your relationship by embracing the vocation of marriage.

This group convalidation is for couples married outside the Catholic Church and if this is the only marriage for both persons.
