Infant Baptism

Infant baptisms take place at every Sunday (except during Lent) at 1:45 pm.  Up to 6 children can be baptized on each Sunday.

To start the process, please call the church office at (510) 797-1660 to schedule a brief parent interview.

Interviews take place on Fridays between 9:30-11:00 a.m. running every 20 minutes.  Only one parent needs to attend the meeting, but both are welcome.  At this interview, parents need to bring the following:

1.  A copy of their baby’s birth certificate
2.  Godparent names (one of whom needs to be a confirmed Catholic: if married, married in the Catholic Church; if single, has received the sacrament of Confirmation)
3.  The church stipend/offering
4.  Letter of Permission from parents’ pastor if parents are not Holy Spirit parishioners

Suggested donation of $75 for parishioners, $100 for non-parishioners, $ 150 for private Baptisms

During the meeting parents will select a date for their child’s baptism and receive answers to any questions they may have.  Additionally there is a baptismal prep class that Godparents and parents are required to attend. This prep class takes place on Mondays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the De Sousa House 4 Plex.
