Ministering to children and young people is the heart of what Jesus calls His people to do. The mission of our Safe Environment Project is to assist the Church in creating a safe haven for children, young people, vulnerable adults, and the elderly. The risk of abuse is greatly reduced by breaking the silence. This is a critical first step to begin the process of education, prevention and healing.
In coordination with all employees and volunteers of the Oakland Diocese, civil authorities, various organizations in our community, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, we are working to create the safest possible environment for each and every person at Holy Spirit Parish and the community of Fremont.
As a parishioner volunteering within a liturgical ministry or a ministry that deals with young children, elderly or vulnerable adults at Holy Spirit Church, you are required to take the Safe Environment training. On-line training is available at www.virtus.org. You can take this course at your own pace and when complete, print the certificate of completion for your ministry lead.
Every three years, all ministry employees and volunteers must receive new and updated training. The Parish will provide on-site training at that time as well as the on-line training.
